How did your company get started? (i.e., How did the founders meet? How did you come up with the idea? How did you decide to be a founder?)
I felt the pain of buying insurance and thought that as business data moved online, the insurance marketplace would also move online. I met Gordon through a mutual friend who said that we are the two people he knows who were interested in insurance. Gordon grew up talking to his dad, an insurance exec, about the inefficiencies of the industry.
How did you decide to apply to Y Combinator? What was your experience applying, going through the batch, and fundraising at demo day?
Gordon had done YC for his prior company and we decided to do YC to 1) make significant progress over a short period of time 2) sell into the YC community.
